Venturing out.

We get one story, You & I, and one story alone. God has established the elements, the setting, the climax and the resolution. It would be a crime not to venture out, wouldn't it?

"As author and holocaust survivor Eli Weisel has taught me, sometimes we speak out to try to change the world, and other times we speak to try to keep the world from changing us. But after speaking so long to a world I thought would never really listen, it is a beautifully bewildering thing to feel so many of us dreaming something better for the world together."

ragamuffin gospel.

Grace strikes us when we are in great pain and restlessness. It strikes us when we walk through the dark valley of a meaningless and empty life.. It strikes us when, year after year, the longed-for perfection does not appear, when the old complusions reign within us as they have for decades, when despair destroys all joy and courage. Sometimes at that moment a wave of light breaks into our darkness, and it is as though a voice were saying: "You are accepted, you are accepted, accepted by that which is greater than you, and the name of which you do not know. Do not ask for the name now; perhaps you will find it later. Do not try to do anything now; perhaps later you will do much. Do not seek anything, do not perform anything, do not intend anything. Simply accept the fact that you are accepted. If that happens to us, we experience grace.

Grace calls out "You are not just a disillusioned old man who may die soon, a middle-aged woman stuck in a job and desperately wanting to get out, a young person feeling the fire in the belly begin to grow cold. You may be insecure, inadequate, mistaken or potbellied. Death, panic, depression and disillusionment may be near you. But you are not just that. You are accepted."

Never confuse your perception of yourself with the mystery that you are accepted.

twenty three.

the past year has been such a weird transitional period. the end of college and end of my time in auburn was huge. my heart still hurts for the people and places of that lovely little town. there really is no other place and no other community anywhere like that in the world. im positive of that. and i sincerely wish that every person in the world might experience something like it. in december i became a college graduate. a young 20something with the entire world at my fingertips. its a crazy place to be. im still struggling with what to do and where to be. surely everyone has thought and experienced the same thing. its just an unsettling place to sit. and an unsettling feeling in the pit of my stomach. the only thing to do is place all hope in the Lord. trusting that He will provide the perfect plan. and freedom. He will.
